St. Peter’s Church RCIA Centre
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA Centres organized by the Archdiocese:
People of other faiths who feel they have received a call from God to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to join the universal fellowship of the Catholic Church, are welcome to join the RCIA programme of the Archdiocese, in order to first ascertain for themselves this call to discipleship, and then bring it to completion with initiation into the Catholic Church.
This Catechumenal process follows the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), with sessions every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., in Hindi or English. The teachings are given with the use of audio-visuals, with ample opportunity to air one’s views in small groups, so that discipleship may deepen as a journey of inner conviction. Various ritual celebrations recommended by the RCIA are strictly adhered to and fully explored, in order to allow an experience of the communitarian dimension of Christian Initiation.
The Parish of St. Peter, Bandra, till the Lockdown caused by the Corona Virus, used to animate a Centre for Catechumenal instruction in Hindi, for all those who wished to be baptized as adults. This Centre has been discontinued from the year 2022-23 and is now held in other Parishes. These Centres are open to Catechumens from all over the Archdiocese of Bombay. A person wanting to explore this possibility needs a recommendation of any priest in order to secure admission into the course.
