St. Peter’s Parish has a group of women who meet regularly with the intention of furthering the cause of women. At the moment the group is small: there are about 8 active members.
Purpose:
To create awareness regarding the women’s vocation and mission.
To empower women to play their rightful role in the Church.
To guide women in distress to suitable people/organisations where they can receive help.
The Women’s Cell meets once a month on the third Wednesday at 6.30 pm in the Parish Parlours.
History:
Took part in the campaign for 38 million Diyas – an archdiocesan initiative
Held Workshops : “High on Life” for Std X children.
Organized Cancer awareness programs
Held Naturopathy sessions.
Helped with the Christmas sweets and decorations.
Present activities:
Spiritual : we conduct the Rosary for the Parish in Feb and Oct at the grotto.
We have a Women’s day sharing on current topics
On the Day of the Girl child we enact an awareness play.
A questionnaire on discrimination against women workers is in the pipeline
Shared at all the weekend Masses of the Parish on the Pope’s new changes at the Vatican for empowering women.
This year’s Women’s day topic: considering the possibility of the Church appointing Women deaconesses.
